The Time: Now or thereabouts.
The pop group Why? has plunged from the charts into a strange world where all the bad pop-groups go. The only occupants are the mysterious device known as the Bamboozler and an elderly woman, Jetta, who also dropped out of the charts into this place years earlier. Their only way out is to create a hit song - and the only way they can do that is with a little help from the audience.
By meeting the challenges of the Bamboozler and creating a musical jigsaw, the musicians find themselves with a new lead singer - as Jetta regains her youth - and a new band, Why Not?, with a hit song which could propel them from wherever they are back to the top of the charts.
